Truth Is, I’m Still Figuring It Out

Truth is… I’m still figuring it out.

I’m not where I thought I’d be in life. Not even close to the version I used to imagine when I was younger. And for a while, that used to mess with me more than I’d like to admit.
I used to think life would feel more… linear.
Like I’d pick a path, stay on it, and slowly climb my way into some version of “I made it.”
But the truth is, I didn’t start where I thought I would. Not in my career. Not in my creative journey. Not even in how I understand myself.
Because when you’re younger, you build this invisible timeline in your head—
where you’ll be, what you’ll have, who you’ll become.
And then… life happens.
And honestly, I don’t even know anymore. Who actually ends up following through on every single goal their 18-year-old self wrote down?
Things change. You change.
You outgrow dreams you once swore were everything.
You discover new ones you never saw coming.
There were versions of me that felt certain I’d be further along by now. More stable. More settled. More sure.
Instead, I’ve had pivots. Detours. Restarts I didn’t plan for. And a lot of quiet moments where I wondered if I was falling behind everyone else.
I used to think that meant I was behind. Like I missed something. Like I wasn’t doing life “right.”
But now I see it differently.
Maybe I’m not behind… maybe I’m just evolving.
Because 18-year-old me didn’t know what I know now. She didn’t know what I’d go through, what I’d learn, or how much I’d change along the way. Of course the plan doesn’t look the same anymore.
And the truth is… I still don’t have it all figured out.
Some days I feel grounded and sure of myself. Other days I feel like I’m rebuilding everything from scratch again. Like I’m starting over in ways no one else can really see.
But here’s what I’m slowly learning: starting somewhere different than you expected doesn’t mean you’re off track. It just means your story didn’t follow the version you imagined—and that’s okay.
Some of the most meaningful parts of my life didn’t come from the plan I had. They came from the moments I had to adjust, breathe, and begin again from wherever I was standing.
I think we forget that growth rarely looks like a straight line. It looks more like trial and error. Like curiosity. Like learning yourself in real time.
Maybe “figuring it out” isn’t a destination you arrive at.
Maybe it’s just life.
A constant becoming. A slow unfolding. A series of small, quiet decisions that don’t always make sense in the moment—but somehow shape who you’re becoming.
And maybe the point was never to arrive exactly where I thought I would.
Maybe the point is to keep becoming someone I actually recognize and respect—no matter how many detours it takes to get there.
So if you’re also not where you thought you’d be… I see you.
You’re not behind. You’re not late.
You’re allowed to change direction.
You’re allowed to grow out of old versions of yourself.
You’re allowed to still be figuring it out.
And maybe… that’s more than enough for right now. 🤍
