Why I Still Use Third-Party Print-on-Demand Platforms in 2026

In 2026, print-on-demand has evolved—but platforms like Threadless and Zazzle are still a valuable part of my business.

Even though I run my own shop, I continue to use third-party marketplaces because they offer something I can’t fully replicate on my own: built-in traffic. These platforms already have customers browsing every day, which gives my designs a chance to be discovered organically without relying entirely on social media or ads.

They’re also incredibly low-risk. I don’t have to worry about inventory, production, or shipping logistics. That means I can focus more on what I love—creating designs and building my brand.

I also genuinely love using both platforms for different reasons. Threadless is amazing for apparel and curated collections—it lets me showcase my designs in a more artistic, community-driven way. Zazzle, on the other hand, gives me so much flexibility with customization. I can offer more personalized products, which makes my designs feel even more special and unique for each customer.

Another big benefit is diversification. Relying on just one platform can be risky, especially with algorithm changes or unexpected issues. By selling across multiple platforms, I create more stability and multiple streams of income.

That said, my own shop gives me more control over branding, customer experience, and product selection. It’s where I can build a deeper connection with my audience.

At the end of the day, it’s not about choosing one over the other—it’s about using both strategically. Third-party platforms help me get discovered, while my own shop helps me grow a loyal community.

And in today’s online world, that balance is more important than ever.
